How Many Blocks Does Your Shed Need?

Building style changes the skid layout on 10-foot-wide buildings. Garages, porch buildings, and cabanas use four skids. Tip: A site is often a little farther out of level than it first appears, so having a few extra solid blocks available can help prevent coming up short.

Free delivery is included within 30 miles of the sales lot where the building is purchased. Standard free setup begins with one solid concrete block at ground level and includes leveling the building on a site that is up to 2 feet out of level. The customer supplies the required solid concrete blocks.
Deliveries beyond 30 miles, sites more than 2 feet out of level, intentionally raised setups, or sites requiring additional preparation may involve additional charges or requirements.

What Type of Block Should Go Under a Shed?
We recommend a 4 in. × 8 in. × 16 in. solid concrete block for supporting and leveling portable buildings. Solid concrete blocks provide a strong, stable support point beneath the building's skids.

Is delivery and leveling free with a portable building?
Yes. Free delivery is included within 30 miles of the sales lot where the building is purchased. Standard free setup includes leveling that begins with one solid concrete block at ground level and continues up to a site that is 2 feet out of level. The customer supplies the required solid concrete blocks. Deliveries beyond 30 miles, sites more than 2 feet out of level, intentionally raised setups, or sites requiring additional preparation may involve additional charges or requirements.
Does the customer supply the blocks for shed setup?
Yes. The customer supplies the solid concrete blocks required for leveling and setup. We recommend 4 in. × 8 in. × 16 in. solid concrete blocks.
How many blocks do I need under my shed?
The number depends on the building width, length, skid layout, slope, and desired setup height. Use the calculator above to estimate the normal support locations and the number of customer-supplied solid blocks needed.
How do you estimate blocks for a sloped site?
We start with the building's normal number of support locations. For planning, a site that is about 1 foot out of level uses the base count × 2, a site about 2 feet out uses the base count × 3, and a site about 3 feet out uses the base count × 4. The additional blocks are used for leveling at the same support locations rather than adding more support locations.
Is a site 2 feet out of level included with standard free setup?
Yes. Standard free setup includes leveling on a site up to 2 feet out of level, beginning with one solid concrete block at ground level. The customer supplies the required solid concrete blocks.
What if the ground is level but I want the shed 1 foot off the ground?
We can intentionally raise a building about 1 foot off level ground for an additional fee. This is different from leveling a naturally sloped site and is not part of standard free leveling. For planning purposes, a building set about 1 foot off level ground uses three solid blocks per support location with the four corner stacks doubled. For example, a standard 10 × 16 has six support locations and an estimated 30 solid blocks.
What if I want the shed 2 feet off the ground?
We can intentionally raise a building about 2 feet off level ground for an additional fee. This is different from leveling a naturally sloped site and is not part of standard free leveling. On level ground, our 2-foot planning quantity is twice the 1-foot quantity. For example, a standard 10 × 16 is estimated at 60 solid blocks. A 12 × 40 with 24 normal support locations is estimated at 168 solid blocks.
What size solid concrete block should I use under a shed?
We recommend a 4 in. × 8 in. × 16 in. solid concrete block for supporting and leveling portable buildings.
Do all 10-foot-wide sheds use the same number of skids?
No. A standard 10-foot-wide building normally uses two skids. A 10-foot-wide garage, porch building, or cabana uses four skids.
Is this diagram a building-code requirement?
No. It is a general illustration of the support patterns commonly used by 4 Seasons Portable Buildings. Always account for site conditions and applicable local requirements.
